One weekend does both jobs this year — the last swim of the season on Sunday, and a ballpark that has already decided it's autumn:
Rock'N River's final weekend · Sat & Sun, Sep 5–6, noon–6pm · Old Settlers Park
The city's weekends-only stretch ends Sunday, which makes these the last two days of the 2026 season. Worth saying plainly, because most people will assume the opposite: it is not open on Labor Day Monday. Admission runs $6 to $20 depending on age. If you've been meaning to go all summer, this is the whole runway.
Oktoberfest at Dell Diamond · Friday, Sep 4 · first pitch 7:05pm, gates 6pm · 3400 E Palm Valley Blvd
The Express skip a few pages ahead on the calendar with Oktoberfest night against the Oklahoma City Comets, plus a Teagan Kavan and Katie Stewart meet-and-greet. It lands in the middle of a homestand that runs Tuesday through Sunday, so there are four different nights to pick from.

The big downtown one: Central Texas artisans, food trucks, and live music holding Main Street for seven straight hours. Trailside Market runs the same morning over at Memorial Park and wraps at noon, so the ambitious plan is both.
🔥 Food Spotlight: Tony C's Pizza & Beer Garden
Coal-fired pizza is a New York thing that mostly didn't make the trip south, which is what makes the oven at Tony C's Pizza & Beer Garden worth knowing about. Co-founder Tony Ciola is a third-generation restaurateur cooking from family recipes — Grandma Ciola's meatballs are on the menu under exactly that name — and the Round Rock location has been sitting a couple of minutes from Dell Diamond since September 2020, which quietly makes this its sixth year in town.
The reason to go this week is the happy hour: Monday through Friday, 3–6pm, with $2 off 22oz drafts, frosé, bellinis, and wine by the glass, plus $3 off appetizers. The rest of the week keeps its own rhythm — Tuesday is two coal-fired pizzas for the price of one, Wednesday is half-price bottles of wine, and Thursday is half-price pitchers of beer all day.
On the pizza itself, the Margherita and the Mama Mia are the baseline and the Carnivore is the one to split. There's homemade lasagna for anyone who didn't come for pizza. Add garlic knots or zucchini sticks to the happy hour and you have a genuinely good afternoon. It's a big room built for lingering — communal high-top tables, a long bar, TVs on for whatever game is running — which makes it the obvious stop before or after the Express homestand this weekend.

Round Rock's downtown rulebook wins a state planning award — the city's Planning and Development Services team earned a 2026 Planning Award from the Texas chapter of the American Planning Association for the Downtown Mixed-Use Zoning Districts and User Guide, written entirely in-house over 18 months with more than 30 hours of public office hours before adoption. Round Rock has put close to $200 million into downtown infrastructure and public improvements since 2010, and this is the paperwork that shapes what gets built next. Read more…
Sociedad marks 10 years on East Main — Michelle Ly and Erik Hall's Tex-Mex bar and restaurant at 119 E Main St hit its decade mark in August, having renovated and rebranded from Alcove Cantina in the space that old-timers still remember as the dive bar Junior's. A $1.3 million remodel is coming to the Walmart on South I-35 — a state filing shows 13,637 square feet of the 203,115-square-foot store at 2701 S I-35, at the northeast corner of I-35 and Louis Henna Boulevard, getting both interior and exterior work. Two road projects hit milestones this month — the $23.4 million East Old Settlers Boulevard extension from Red Bud Lane to CR 110 was finalized in early August and is waiting on an adjacent traffic switch before it opens, and the $1.38 million Smyers Lane rehabilitation between RM 620 and Wyoming Springs breaks ground in September. 🪨 Trivia answer: Texas Lutheran University in Seguin! Round Rock once had a college of its own — and the town essentially bought it, beating out Stamford in 1904 by offering the Augustana Lutheran Synod fourteen city lots, a well, a cash bonus, and a railroad willing to haul the building materials at half price. Trinity Lutheran College opened October 2, 1906 with four faculty and forty-eight students in a three-story native stone building. It never grew much, and in 1929 it merged into the Lutheran college at Seguin we now call Texas Lutheran University. The campus reopened that October as Trinity Lutheran Homes, and that address on East Main has been a care home ever since. Read the marker →
