Happy Wednesday, Round Rock! 👋 Clear your Saturday — August 1 is one of the most stacked days of the summer: Market Days takes over downtown, Trailside Market runs at Memorial Park, hundreds of thousands of purple martins swirl at dusk, and Kalahari throws an adults-only Waterpark After Dark.
Plus: the Express close out their longest homestand with fireworks and $1 hot dogs, we spotlight the cantina where quesa birria tacos come with a side of karaoke, and $641K is headed to Round Rock nonprofits and home repairs. Let's dig in.

🌮 Spotlight: Besos Cocina & Cantina
Owner Victor Salazar set out to build more than a restaurant — Besos is his love letter to Mexican culture, cuisine, and music, and four years in, it's found its rhythm. The menu runs from Tex-Mex comforts (nachos, burritos) to the real-deal dishes you'd normally hunt down in a hole-in-the-wall: mole, menudo, and the signature quesa birria tacos — three pan-seared beauties with birria beef, melty cheese, cilantro, and a consommé built for dunking.
And the "cantina" half is no afterthought: DJs spin Friday and Saturday nights, Sunday karaoke kicks off at 6pm, and Monday kids' nights come with face paint and balloon animals. Date night or family night — pick your lane.

It's been family-run through generations of owners, and today Cathy Guderyahn carries the torch her parents picked up in 1978. Here's to 100 more. Read the story →
