Rockey's Piano Bar turns 10 · Thursday, Aug 27 · 111 W Main St
A decade of dueling pianos, cold cocktails, and the best kind of downtown noise. The same crew behind Backporch Social — Mingo Hernandez, Johnny Ontiveros, and David Solis — opened Rockey's in 2016, and it's been Main Street's live-music anchor ever since. Community Impact reports an anniversary party set for Thursday; doors are at 6pm and they pour until 2am Thursday through Saturday.

Arena-rock anthems, '90s alt-rock, and modern party hits from a band whose entire pitch is "catch us if you can." It's free, it's literally next door to Rockey's, and the Tavern is about as old-Round-Rock as a Saturday night gets. Park once downtown and you've got the whole evening covered.
🔥 Food Spotlight: Eggman
If your school-year mornings need more than a granola bar, there's a truck parked at the edge of Old Settlers Park doing New York bodega breakfast properly. Eggman is the work of Rich Tavetian, a Queens native who couldn't find a real bacon-egg-and-cheese in Texas and decided to build one himself — house-made sauces, custom-baked Kaiser rolls, wrapped in foil exactly like a corner deli would hand it to you.
The menu reads like a subway map: the Bodega Classic, the Queens Boulevard, the Bronx Bomber, and a guest favorite honestly named The Big Mess. The truck landed in Round Rock in May, and the spot is doing a lot of work — you're minutes from Dell Diamond, Kalahari, and every youth tournament at the Multipurpose Complex. Grab breakfast, then go be a spectator.

🪨 Trivia answer: A broom! Long before donuts or ballparks, Round Rock's claim to fame was brooms. The Round Rock Broom Company operated out of the limestone building that still stands at 100 E Main Ave in Old Town, and in 1904 one of its brooms took home a gold medal from the St. Louis World's Fair — the Texas historical marker on the building says so in plain text. Round Rock had a good fair that year, actually: the Round Rock White Lime Company won an award at the same event for best lime. Next time you're walking Main, look for the stepped parapet and keystone arches on that 1876 building. That's the old broom factory. Read the marker →
